This is the second session of our Legal Documents workshop! It is the same workshop. If you attended the first, there is no need to attend this event but you are still welcome! Thanks for all your interest! Please also note that this workshop is two hours, if you have to leave early this is alright.
Whether you’re a first year having to study law for the first time with LJM I, a second year or third year law major who still has many law courses to take, or any other PPLE student interested in understanding legal documents, this workshop is for you! Reading and understanding legal documents can be complicated and quite overwhelming. It is a very useful skill to gain for your studies at PPLE or in a future degree. In this workshop, you will learn, among other things, to filter out important information in legal documents, for instance when reading a case. Step by step, you will go through Lautsi v. Italy, an ECtHR case which is in the LJM I syllabus! The workshop will be led by Smita Shah, a tutor at PPLE. Among other impressive achievements, Smita was a barrister in London for more than 10 years, she has taught law at University College London and is now undertaking a PhD in Law. You will therefore get to learn from a true legal expert!
Note: when you register, there will be a pay form but you will not be required to fill any card information in. We apologise for the confusion or inconvenience, but it’s built into the registration system.
