“Movies that Matter broadens the perspective on human rights by screening films and encouraging screenings of films on pressing social issues. We do this by organizing the annual Movies that Matter Festival, educational screenings for students and schoolchildren, organizing events, with advisory work at home and abroad, and supporting festivals abroad.
We are looking for an intern / volunteer didactics and national production for the education team (24 hours per week) starting September 1.
About Movies that Matter Education
We want to stimulate students to active citizenship and make them aware of the core values of our democracy. We do this not with ready-made answers, but by using film (and debate) to ask questions. We select educational films and develop teaching materials for secondary education and vocational schools, tailored to the curriculum, for use in the classroom. In addition, schools come to the annual festival in The Hague for film screenings with in-depth programs. We screen these spin offs in movie theaters from Vlissingen to Alkmaar and Groningen to Roermond. Every year we reach thousands of pupils and students with our educational offer of which 7,500 at the festival and around 12,000 in the rest of the country. Our focus is on pupils and students in (v)mbo, practical education and International Integration Classes. The education team consists of a project coordinator, an education officer for production, an education officer for national screenings and two interns.”
