We are looking for an enthusiastic intern/volunteer Marketing & Communications (24 hours per week) starting September 1.

The Marketing & Communications team is an important link between the various teams. You will help with the daily support, leading up to and during the Movies that Matter Festival (March 22-30, 2024 in The Hague).

What will you do?

• You will devise and coordinate promotional campaigns aimed at (potential) audiences;

• You will approach specific target groups and set up collaborations;

• You will support the maintenance of the website, database and social media;

• You will work on content creation: perhaps you will think up a new podcast format, reels concept or interview series for our online magazine;

• You will help set up and roll out audience research;

• General marketing and communications support.

Movies that Matter aims to broaden perspectives on human rights. We use film to stimulate dialogue about a just world, influence public opinion and motivate commitment to social issues and a sustainable society. We accomplish this with the annual Movies that Matter festival, educational screenings for students and schoolchildren, and by organizing year-round events and screenings in the Netherlands. In countries where human rights and press freedom are under pressure, we support film festivals and mobile film projects through grants, workshops, training and advice.

From September 1 we are looking for an intern for the International Support Program (24 hours per week).

Through the International Support Program, we encourage the screening of films about human rights in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. This is done through grants, advice, workshops and network building. Internationally, we stimulate film screenings and debate by, among other things, a film menu around International Human Rights Day for Dutch embassies worldwide. We also coordinate the Human Rights Film Network, a network of nearly 50 film festivals on human rights worldwide.

We select educational films and develop teaching materials for secondary education and vocational schools, tailored to the curriculum, for use in the classroom. In addition, schools come to the annual festival in The Hague for film screenings with in-depth programs. We screen these spin-offs in film theaters throughout the country; from Vlissingen to Alkmaar and Groningen to Roermond. Every year we reach thousands of pupils and students with our educational offerings, 7,500 of whom attend the festival. Our focus is on pupils and students in (v)mbo, practical education and International Integration Classes. The Events & Partnerships team organizes year-round film screenings with in-depth information (such as introductions and after-tours). We do this with the On Tour program through which we show a selected film every month in 17 film theaters throughout the Netherlands. We also screen films in cooperation with (or commissioned by) social organizations and companies. During the annual festival in The Hague, our team is responsible for film screenings with various partners. Finally, our team advises on human rights films and the organization of screenings. The team consists of a project coordinator and a staff member.”
